Week 3
Our first full week of school was a huge success! 🎉 The halls have been buzzing with excitement, and our middle school students are gearing up for Student Council elections.
Being part of Student Council is an excellent opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and boost school spirit. Good luck to all of our nominees! We can’t wait to see what this year’s student leaders bring to Woods.
Here are a few important things to know:
🍽️ Hot Lunch Reminder
If your student will be arriving late and would like hot lunch, please remember to notify the school office. Hot lunches are ordered at 8:30 AM every morning. Thank you for helping us make sure everyone gets the lunch they need!
📚 Fall i-Ready Diagnostic Testing
Grades K–8 | September 8–22
Our Kindergarten through 8th-grade students are currently taking the fall i-Ready Diagnostic tests in both Reading and Math.
This adaptive assessment helps teachers identify each child’s unique strengths and learning needs. It is not a graded test. Instead, it provides a baseline that allows our teachers to personalize instruction and set meaningful growth goals for each student throughout the school year.
The diagnostic helps us understand what students know and what they are ready to learn.
How You Can Help at Home:
😴 Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
🥞 Encourage them to eat a healthy breakfast before school.
✏️ Remind them to take their time and simply try their best. It’s okay if they encounter questions they don’t know yet!
💻 If applicable, make sure school-issued devices are fully charged each night.
🎧 Make sure headphones are packed in their backpacks.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s learning journey! Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
🎄 Christmas Parade Planning Has Begun!
Yes, we’re already thinking about Christmas! 🎅
Planning is underway for our annual Christmas Parade, and we are in need of a trailer that the school could borrow.
If you have a trailer available for us to use, please contact the front office. Thank you for helping us keep this fun tradition going!
🏐 Woods at Youth Night!
This week, our volleyball team had the opportunity to attend Youth Night at Badger High School!
It was a great chance for our girls to experience competitive volleyball, cheer on the players, and enjoy some time together as a team. We love seeing our students get involved and show their Woods spirit! 💙

🎉 Student Spotlight
Each week we’ll feature a joke, fun fact, or riddle from one of our amazing students!
This week’s joke comes from Hans (5K):
🐻 Q: What do you call a bear with no teeth?
A: A gummy bear! 🍬
If eating gummy bears counts as self-care, I am absolutely thriving! 😂
