garden

Week 2 was short and sweet! The school has been a buzz with Run Club, volleyball, soccer practices, and some i-Ready testing. It’s been a busy week, and we’re off to a great start to the school year!

Here are a few important things to know:

🏐 Volleyball Youth Night

Volleyball Youth Night is Tuesday, September 15th at 6:30 PM!

This is a great opportunity for our volleyball girls to watch some fun and competitive volleyball. Our girls get in FREE when they wear their Woods volleyball jersey—and they’ll already be in their jerseys because we have a game earlier that day!

💳 School Fees & PushCoin

Did you know that school fees can always be paid through PushCoin? This includes field trips, ASDC, lunches, and more.

If you need help setting up your PushCoin account, please contact the school office. We’re happy to help!

🌱 The Woods Fall Garden

Our 8th graders were busy this week planning and planting the Woods Fall Garden!

They planted several frost-resistant vegetables, including spinach, lettuce, kale, peas, and carrots. We can’t wait to watch their garden grow!

📚 Fall i-Ready Diagnostic Testing

Grades K–8 | September 8–22

Between September 8th and September 22nd, our Kindergarten through 8th-grade students will take the fall i-Ready Diagnostic tests in both Reading and Math.

This adaptive assessment helps teachers pinpoint each child’s unique strengths and learning needs. It is not a test for a grade. Instead, it provides a clear baseline so our teachers can personalize instruction and set tailored growth goals for each student throughout the school year.

This diagnostic allows us to better understand what students know and what they are ready to learn.

How You Can Help at Home:

  • 😴 Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.

  • 🥞 Encourage them to eat a healthy breakfast before school.

  • ✏️ Remind them to take their time and simply try their best—it’s okay if they encounter questions they don’t know yet!

  • 💻 If applicable, make sure school-issued devices are fully charged each night.

  • 🎧 Make sure headphones are packed in their backpacks.

Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s learning journey! Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

🧹 We’re Hiring!

We are currently looking for evening cleaners to join our team. If you or someone you know may be interested, please spread the word!

🎄 Christmas Parade Planning Has Begun!

Yes, we said it... Christmas! 🎅

We are already planning for our annual Christmas Parade and are looking for a trailer that the school could borrow.

If you have a trailer that we could use, please contact the front office. Thank you for helping us make this annual tradition possible!

🎉 Student Spotlight

Each week we’ll feature a joke, fun fact, or riddle from one of our amazing students!

This week’s joke comes from Tessa (6th Grade):

🪜 Q: Why are frogs always so happy?

A: Because they eat whatever bugs them!

🐸

I’ll be right back, adding “be more like a frog” to my parenting strategy. 😂
