A Great First Week! 🎉
Hello Woods Families,
The first week of the 2026–2027 school year is officially in the books! What a great week we have had. It has been wonderful seeing our Wildcats back in the building and settling into their routines.
Our drop-off and pick-up line is moving along nicely! A quick reminder: if you are first in line and the chain has not yet been removed, feel free to take it down no earlier than 8:00 am.
Thank you for helping make arrival and dismissal run smoothly!
🏐 Girls Volleyball Schedule
The Girls Volleyball Schedule is now posted on our website under Explore → Calendar.
Come cheer on your Wildcats! 💙🐾
📚 Fall i-Ready Diagnostic Testing
Grades K–8 | September 8–22
Beginning September 8, our Kindergarten through 8th-grade students will take their fall i-Ready Diagnostic assessments in both Reading and Math. Testing will take place through September 22.
This adaptive assessment helps teachers pinpoint each child's unique strengths and learning needs. It is not a test for a grade. Instead, it provides a baseline that allows our teachers to personalize instruction and set appropriate growth goals for each student.
The diagnostic helps us understand what students already know and what they are ready to learn next.
🏠 How You Can Help at Home
A few simple things can help your student feel prepared:
😴 Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep.
🍳 Start the day with a healthy breakfast.
💪 Remind your child to take their time and simply try their best. It's okay if they come across questions they don't know yet!
💻 If applicable, make sure school-issued devices are fully charged each night.
🎧 Don't forget to pack headphones in your student's backpack.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your child's learning journey! If you have questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.
🧹 We're Hiring!
We are currently looking for evening cleaners to join our Woods team.
Know someone who might be a great fit? Please spread the word!
📱 Personal Technology Reminder
As a part of state requirements under 2025 Wisconsin Act 42, Woods School has an updated policy regarding personal technology.
To maximize student engagement and minimize distractions, students will not have access to personal communication devices during instructional time.
This zero-access rule applies to:
📱 Cell phones
⌚ Smartwatches
🥽 Meta/smart glasses
📱 Tablets and similar technology
Devices must be turned off or silenced and stored away during class.
Exceptions outlined in state law, such as medical needs or documented IEP accommodations, will be strictly accommodated.
If an urgent situation arises, please call the main office so we can get a message to your child right away.
Thank you for your support in fostering a present, connected learning community!
