On behalf of the Woods School Parent Teacher Group (WPTG), welcome to Woods School! We are excited to have your family as part of our community. This memo provides a quick overview of the WPTG and invites you to participate in the group.
Purpose. The purpose of WPTG is to support and enrich the educational experiences of our students and families. By organizing volunteers and raising money, WPTG helps fund:
· The ski program, which allows students to learn to ski or snowboard at Grand Geneva as part of their physical education.
· Professional performances at assemblies, including an African Drum Troop and Chinese Acrobats.
· School improvements, such as Smart Boards and computers for classrooms, new stoves and a refrigerator, a stage sound system for music programs, roll-away bleachers for the gym, library updates and a reading garden.
Volunteers. WPTG welcomes and appreciates our parent volunteers. By sharing your time, you can become involved with the school, have some fun, and get to know the teachers and other families. Our volunteers are the heart of the WPTG. We need help with daily playground supervision, a November 17, 2011 Pilgrim Dinner, Teacher Appreciation week in May 2012, Field Days on June 6, 2012, running a concession stand at sport events, special Cultural Lunches, “Picture Person” art presentations in the classrooms, a Green Club and more. Sign up sheets will be available at upcoming school events.
Fundraisers. We hope you will support our fundraisers with your time and contributions. We are planning a December 2, 2011 holiday party at the Driehaus estate on the lake, a March 2012 Silent Auction and dinner at school, and food sales from Market Day throughout the year. Other fundraisers include collecting Campbell Soup labels and “Box Tops” for Education, the Target Red Card program and a pizza night. We need parent volunteers to help with these programs.
