Playground/Recess Help

Thank You, Parents

Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help supervise the playground during noon recess.  If you still wish to volunteer, please

contact Monica Goebel(number and e-mail below).  More help is always welcome. Your assistance on the playground is very much appreciated by

the teachers and helps to keep our children safe.  This year, we are fortunate to have enough volunteers to have at least one parent, and

sometimes two,  helping every day. 

Procedures & Rules

Noon recess is from 11:50 until 12:30.   Please come to school around 11:45, sign in at the office and pick up a visitor badge.  Then, go to the doorways by the third grade classroom to meet the students and teacher as they head outside. 

A walkie-talkie and keys to the door are in the third grade classroom.  You should bring them outside with you.  The door is locked during the school day, and you will need the key if the door must be opened during recess.  Use the walkie-talkie if you need to call the office.

Grades 1-5 come outside from 11:50 until 12:10.  When the bell rings, the children will line up at the door and the teacher will let them in.  Grades 6-8 come outside from 12:10 until 12:30.  When recess is over, they simply head inside. 

Please ask the recess teacher if there is anything special you should do.  If not, just walk around, keep an eye on the children, and remind them about the rules as needed.   A copy of the rules is attached.

"Substitutes" & Back-Up

If you cannot be there on your scheduled day, please call another parent to take your place. 

A list of contact information for people available for back-up is attached. 

We want to be sure to have at least one parent on the playground every day.  Two parents are even better.  If you cannot be there on a day that two parents are scheduled, please call the other parent to be sure that at least one of you can make it.  Please do not simply assume that the other person will cover for you. 

If you need to cancel, and cannot find a substitute, please call the school office at 248-3816.
