To the Parent/Guardians of Woods School District students:
We are pleased to announce that keyboarding instruction will begin with our sixth grade students. To support the necessary independent practice that is an essential part of learning to keyboard, the district is providing each 6th – 8th grade student with his/her own username and password to access Sense-lang.org, an online keyboarding program.
Mrs. Johnson will introduce the program to students in school and students will begin the keyboarding lessons. As students become familiar with the program, they will be expected to practice keyboarding at home, at the library, or in other locations where they can use a computer with supervised internet access.
Please note that the benefit of providing our students with “anytime/anywhere” access to this keyboarding program comes with the responsibility of using the Internet as a tool. At school, students use the Internet under the supervision of an adult, and we recommend the same for use in the home. Parents and guardians who are not familiar with internet safety may choose to visit http://www.google.com/familysafety/ for more information.
Mrs. Johnson will monitor keyboarding progress through the use of custom reports from the Sense-lang.org program as well as through observations in school.
We are excited to provide this resource.
Thank you,
Mrs. Johnson
