Thank you to the Parents, friends, and students of Woods School Pilgrim Dinner!
Once again, through everyone’s hard work another culinary extravaganza was accomplished which demonstrated our school’s sense of community, service, and kindness to all involved. It is always important as we move forward, to remember that our children come first, as they have in this worthwhile activity.
Thank you again for all the planning, decorating, set-up, cooking, baking, serving, and clean-up that you did, and especially for your love of our school and its children.

The Annual Pilgrim Feast takes place the Thursday before Thanksgiving. The “feast” is a sit-down dinner for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade with students and families. Students in grades 6 through 8 eat with their families and then spring into action. The middle school students learn about serving the community by setting up, serving the K-5 dinner, and then cleaning up. This is a tremendous learning experience for the middle school.
Parents and families volunteer to assist the entire process along with the staff. All families contribute by bringing in traditional food dishes to accompany the turkey and ham. Through this experience, a sense of community is built based on the traditions of early settlers.

At this year's Thanksgiving Feast we again will stress the community service format with the middle school serving a "sit down" dinner to the 4k – 5th Grade students and their families. To accomodate all that is happening, we have scheduled approximate eating times for students.
The students serving in Grades 6 – 8 will eat with their families at approximately 12:30, after the lower grades are served. This format coincides with the curriculum for middle school students.

The committee has scheduled approximate eating times for grades 4K through 5th grade. The middle school students will again serve the meal and will eat after all the lower grades have eaten the main course and have been served dessert. If you are planning to eat with your middle school student, please be here between 12:15 and 12:30. Most middle school students should be ready to eat by 12:30. Your son or daughter can be dismissed from duty when you arrive.
Remember — these are approximate times

Putting on a dinner like this for 300+ people takes a massive effort on
the part of the school and the families. The food list has been
adjusted and modified to accommodate this. The main entrées will be
served to the table, like turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes, gravy, corn
and beans. If you would like to prepare some wild meat or fish to help
keep the meal in a traditional intent, please feel free to do so and
the students will serve a sample to the diners who would like a taste.
Please see the Pilgrim Dinner Suggested Foods List and make three choices of what you would be able to bring. We are asking our families to RSVP, so we can have a pretty good estimate of the number of people attending. Also, please let us know if you are interested in volunteering your help in some way on the day of the dinner. You can email the coordinators or return the form that was sent home from school. Please have the oldest child in your family return the form with your food choices.
After reviewing the returned slips, a verification notice will be sent
home listing your food contribution. All families are encouraged to
participate.
