The Christmas Parade is on Saturday, December 5th at 5:00 pm. We will be meeting downtown at 4:30 pm. Please wear warm clothes, including gloves that allow you to play your instrument, and a festive hat (long or regular stocking cap), Santa hat, jester hat, etc.).

You will need to bring your lyre, your music, and your instrument (leave the case in the car). The director will not have any extra music, lyres or instruments...so don't forget yours!

wreath_lights.gifPRE-PARADE MEETING LOCATION

We will meet at 4:30 on the Southwest corner of Marshall and  Broad (directly opposite the Pizza Hut). Once we are gathered and checked in, we will line up on Marshall Street and proceed down Broad Street according to the parade coordinator's instructions. Please do not be late or we will leave without you!

POST-PARADE PICK UP LOCATION

After the parade, parents may pick up the students at the corner of Main and Cook Streets (across from Lakeside Deli). The parade will end by turning right (North) on Cook Street. A good place to meet is in the area of Central/Denison School. There will be no school transportation, so you will need to arrange for a ride.

See you on Saturday, December 5th at 4:30!

A Great Start!

music_sheet_fall.jpgOur school year is off to a great start! All of the elementary classes are learning about rhythm, experimenting with movement, and singing. We enjoyed our Musician of the Month in September, Johann Sebastian Bach, and learned about Baroque music. October will bring new adventures as we continue to explore the joy of music.

All students in Chorus have been learning and reviewing good singing techniques. We are preparing for our performances already! The chorus will take part in the Veteran's Day and Holiday Programs. Keep singing!

The beginning of October is exciting for fourth and fifth graders in band! They are just getting their new instruments and having fun learning to play. Friday lessons begin in October for the beginning band students.

Concert Band (grades 6–8) is also going well. We are continuing to make great music and are excited to share it with you in the upcoming months. We will be marching in the Homecoming Parade as well as performing a patriotic medley for the Veterans Program at school. Come see us!

Jazz Band is meeting on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (8:00–8:30). Any interested students need to see me soon! We have already had rehearsals.
