6th Grade:

The Sixth Grade has wrapped up our regional studies of the USA, and everyone should be expert on the geography of the states and their capitals.  We now have an understanding of the history and culture of each U.S region, and how different we can be in different parts of our country.  Throughout April, we will investigate how different our country is—culturally, economically, geographically, and governmentally—from countries in Asia & Europe.

7th Grade:

Our big investigation of the Roman Empire is coming to a close as Seventh Graders are starting to look at the downfall of Rome.  We will be wrapping up the “good times” of Rome with a Be a Roman paper, in which students create a story of the daily life of different groups in Ancient Rome.  But all good times come to an end, and so will our study of the Romans.  Next on the list is Christianity.  We’ll tie the religion into the later stages of Rome, and how it impacted the following empires all the way through today.

8th Grade:

The idea of manifest destiny is guiding us through the physical and cultural changes of the American Empire.  It is also guiding us to see how the concept still shapes American idealism and our everyday lives.  The Civil War is on deck for our studies of the past, and we will be making connections between its results and how it has shaped the culture of the U.S.
